As the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China awarded Shan Xinghua the honorary title of "Model of the Era," a new long reportage titled "12306 China Railway: The Magic Behind the Online Passenger Ticketing System," written by railway author Wang Xiong and planned by the Publicity Department of CR, was recently published by the Foreign Languages Press in Chinese, English and French versions. The book is being distributed both domestically and internationally.

On the morning of December 25, the Publicity Department of CR, the Foreign Languages Press and the China Academy of Railway Sciences Group Co., Ltd. jointly held a new book launch ceremony in Beijing. Shan Xinghua, a "Model of the Era," Chief Researcher at the China Academy of Railway Sciences Group and Deputy Director of the 12306 Innovation Center, along with officials from the International Communication Bureau of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, Publicity Department of CR, Foreign Languages Press and China Academy of Railway Sciences, as well as the book's author Wang Xiong, attended the ceremony.

Today, in China, if you travel by train, you cannot avoid using the Railway 12306 website or the 12306 mobile app. As the world's largest ticketing system, Railway 12306 has over 720 million registered users and sells more than 4 billion tickets annually. From manual ticket sales to computer-based ticketing and then to nationwide networked sales; from cardboard tickets to soft paper tickets, to magnetic cards and now e-tickets, China's railway ticketing system has fully entered the "thumb era." "Face-scanning entry" has made travel more convenient and dignified.

For many years, getting a train ticket was a major challenge, especially during the busy Spring Festival travel rush, where a simple train ticket carried both dreams and homesickness. The crowded ticket lines at train station squares have been a part of the Spring Festival memories for generations. With the rapid development of high-speed rail and the widespread use of online ticketing, this historical memory is forever anchored in the past.

As the leader of the Chinese railway internet ticketing system development team, Shan Xinghua has focused on meeting the country's major needs, specializing in the field, and has dedicated over 20 years to the R&D of China's railway passenger ticket system. From learning and assisting to taking on full responsibility, and from overseeing to overall design, she has participated in the entire process of the information-oriented transformation of China's railway ticket. She led theoretical and technological research on railway transportation organization, passenger services and revenue management, demonstrating exceptional technological innovation and making significant contributions to the digital and intelligent development of China's railways. Her efforts have earned widespread recognition, establishing her as an indisputable "Model of the Era."

This book, approximately 300,000 words (Chinese version), focuses on the vivid scenes of changing times and people's lives, showcasing the historic achievements and transformations made in China's new era. The stories told here seem to be related to everyone's experiences with train travel—your past worries and your current joys. Following the tracks of Railway 12306, you will encounter ups and downs. Exploring the secrets of success, you will find endless wonders and surprises. In reading, let us enjoy the convenience, fun and joy brought by high technology.
